"Friends of Italian" was set up in 1994 by a group of mature graduates of the Italian degree course at the University of Kent, in order to pursue their enthusiasm for all aspects of Italian culture and language.

The yearly Programme consists of a series of talks given by a variety of speakers, academics, writers etc., on a wide range of Italian related subjects, including Art, History, Literature, Politics and current affairs. The talks are given in English and are held every fourth Thursday of the month during term-time  in Keynes College Senior Common Room, by courtesy of the University of Kent. Owing to venue unavailability at the University, the talks are being held at the Kent & Canterbury Club (opposite the Police Station), 17 Old Dover Road, Canterbury CT1 3JB. Talks commence at 7pm. Please note there is free parking at the back of the club.

FORO is the monthly Italian conversation group when English members, interested in improving and keeping up their spoken Italian, can meet with native Italian members to hear and practise the language and socialise. Foro meetings are currently not taking place. Please await further news.

At the New Year we celebrate 'Festa della Befana' in February by having a lunch at a local restaurant in Canterbury where all members and their partners are welcome.

In June we host a  'Bring and Share Summer Garden Party', at Tower House, Westgate Gardens, Canterbury CT1 2BD (next to Westgate Towers).
