"Friends of Italian" was set up in 1994 by a group of
mature graduates
of the Italian degree course at the University of Kent, in order to
pursue their enthusiasm for all aspects of Italian culture and
language.
The yearly Programme consists of a series of talks given by a
variety of speakers,
academics, writers etc., on a wide range of Italian related
subjects, including Art, History, Literature, Politics and current
affairs. The talks are given in English and are held every fourth
Thursday of the month during term-time at 7.30pm in Keynes College
Senior Common Room, by courtesy of the University of
Kent.
FORO is the monthly Italian conversation group when English members, interested in improving and keeping up their spoken Italian, can meet with native Italian members to hear and practise the language and socialise.
At the New Year we celebrate “Festa della Befana” in January /
February by having a lunch at a local Italian restaurant in
Canterbury where all members and their partners are
welcome.
In June we host a “Summer Garden Party” at the home of two of our
members who generously makes their garden and home available to end
off our season.
PLEASE NOTE, THAT OWING TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS, LECTURES AND OTHER MEETINGS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED.
MEMBERS WILL BE ADVISED IN DUE
COURSE
WHEN THE NORMAL PROGRAMME CAN BE RESUMED.
