Programme of Speakers for the 2020/2021 season




All lectures take place in Keynes College Senior Common Room, at the University of Kent, at 7.30pm promptly

Guest Fee for non members attending lectures is £3.00


N.B. Please note that the autumn lectures have been cancelled due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. We expect to resume our 2021 programme on condition that restrictions in force at the time will allow us to do so.



Thursday 28 January: Professor John Foot (University of Bristol) 

 The amazing (and sometimes scandalous)story of Italian Football.

“Understanding Ravenna"
A special look at that renowned site of artistic glory, designed and decorated against a tide of invasion, regime change and conflict 

Thursday 25 March: Andrea del Cornò (Italian specialist, The London Library) 

“The Free Italian School of Hatton Garden” 
A school set up by Giuseppe Mazzini in 1841 for the impoverished Italian children of Victorian London.

Thursday 27 May: Ross King (Writer & Art historian) 

“Michelangelo and the Pope’s Ceiling" – The story of four extraordinary years that Michelangelo spent on the Sistine scaffolding and, outside, the upheaval of 16th century Rome.   

Thursday 24 June: “Summer Garden Party” (Bring & Share) at 7.30pm.
